At Cusona, Guicciardini Strozzi is an estate whose origins date back to 994, where winemaking has continued uninterrupted for over a millennium. We are in San Gimignano, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the historic home of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, a wine that has remained true to its origins across the centuries, from the Ordinances of 1276 to the writings of Dante and Boccaccio and the courts of the Renaissance. A cornerstone in Italian wine history, it was the first to be awarded DOC status in 1966 and the first white wine to achieve DOCG recognition in 1993.
Here, continuity is not simply a narrative, but the foundation of a concrete enological vision, one that begins in the vineyards and extends through to the cellar in a focused pursuit of excellence. It is a vision that does not seek to reinterpret Vernaccia di San Gimignano, but rather to elevate it through the dedicated work of those who look to the future while remaining true to the enduring character of this land. More than a story of wine: 750 years after its first recorded mention and 60 years after its first DOCG recognition, it is a balance that continues to take shape over time.
